Edwin “Ed” Duane Banister, age 93, of Blue Eye, Missouri.

Edwin “Ed” Duane Banister, age 93, of Blue Eye, Missouri, passed away on June 3, 2025, with family by his side. He entered this life on August 16, 1931, the son of Everett and Erma (Thomas) Banister in Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas. Ed was joined in marriage to his love, Anne.

With a heart for his family, Ed was a fantastic friend, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband. He married his high school sweetheart, LaMoyne, in Kansas in 1950. Ed served as Rajah of the Shell Knob Shrine Club. During his time with the Shriners, he volunteered his time driving children and their families to Shriners Hospitals for treatments. With an eye for beauty and skilled hands, Ed was a gifted craftsman and finish carpenter. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, which was evident through his rescuing large draft horses. Ed enjoyed golfing, coaching, and watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs. Family and sports were his legacy that Ed has left behind for his loved ones; however, Ed’s greatest love in life was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ed is survived by his wife, Anne Banister; children: Vicki (Rodney) Nelson of Minnesota, Janie (Charlie) Van Houden of Kansas, and Richard (Gloria) Banister of Kansas; eight grandchildren: Derek (Lynn) Nelson, Meghan (John) Glotfelty, Chip (Skye) Van Houden, Ange (Daniel) Marichal, Mandi (Dave) Alonzo, Chad (Kari) Van Houden, Andy (Lorna) Banister, and Casi (Nick) Nelson; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Banister; sisters, Maxine LaJoy-Banister and Barbara Banister; and first wife, LaMoyne Banister.
