Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, Gene Doerr entered into rest at the age of 84 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at his residence in Hollister due to a fall while working in the yard.
Born, Gene Henry Doerr on December 4, 1940 on his family’s farm in Creighton, Nebraska, Gene was the son of George H. Doerr & Hattie (Machmueller) Doerr. He was baptized in December 1940. Gene grew up in Creighton and lived on the farm until he married the love of his life, Jeanine Petersen. They were wed on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1960 at Stark Valley Methodist Church near Plainview, Nebraska. Gene loved his wonderful wife of 65 years and boy could they dance to polka music!
Gene and Jeanine farmed in Nebraska until moving the family to Hollister, MO in 1971. Gene worked construction in the area and started Doerr’s Construction and Excavation. He continued operating his company until his retirement.
Gene enjoyed his family and loved spending time having Sunday lunches and holiday get-togethers. And it wasn’t Father’s Day unless there was homemade ice cream. He always lit up when spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working in his yard and planting flowers and vegetables. To Gene, family was the greatest blessing and he had the deepest love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also had a great love for his horses and International tractors.
