Jack D Cook, age 84, passed away on January 1, 2026.
Jack D Cook, age 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Hospice of the Hills in Harrison, Arkansas. He was born on May 1, 1941, to Hazel (Devore) Cook and Albert Cook in Bergman, Arkansas.
He attended College of the Ozarks before traveling to California where he became a machinist and eventually owned a machine shop for a portion of the time. He traveled between California and Arkansas for many years during his career. Prior to retiring, he worked at Wright Co in Harrison for a short time.
He played the banjo and enjoyed music, building computers and watching his favorite YouTube channels. He also enjoyed learning and discussing space and physics along with documenting memories via photos and video. A garden was always an important part of his spring and summer activities, and he built three of his family homes and enjoyed other carpentry projects along with time spent in his shop tinkering.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donia (Moore) Cook, of Bergman, Arkansas; daughter Stephanie Chapman of Huntsville, Arkansas along with husband Zach Chapman and daughter Monique Deskovick of Grandview, Missouri; his grandchildren Dylan Chapman of Elkins, Arkansas, Michael and Matthew Deskovick of Grandview, Missouri; three great grandchildren Lily, Gracelynn and Cameron; his sister Helen Garrison of Harrison, Arkansas along with brother in law Harold Garrison and his brother Bill Cook and wife Cathie Cook of Bergman, Arkansas; his brother in law Jesse Moore and wife Aimee Moore of Bergman, Arkansas; his brother in law John Moore and wife Stacy Moore of Harrison, Arkansas; two nieces and nine nephews, many cousins, friends and others that will miss him dearly. And above all his beloved little buddy, Stewie, his Yorkie companion of 17 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Cook and father, Albert Cook along with his younger brother James Cook, mother-in-law Betty Moore and father-in-law Fred Jr. Moore and many other aunts and uncles.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Daniel Lance, Dr. Victor Chu, Dr. Thomas Rosson, Director of Hospice of the Hills Thomas Pepler, Hospice of the Hills Nurses and Staff and Highlands Oncology of Fayetteville/Springdale Nurses and Staff along with his classmates from Bergman who held a special bond with each other over the years.
A graveside service will be held at York Cemetery in Bergman, Arkansas on Wednesday the 7th, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Officiating the service will be Daniel Lance.
