Jerry Francis Olson, age 86, passed away on December 23, 2025.

Jerry Francis Olson, born May 8, 1939, in Crofton, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home near Golden, Missouri, on December 23, 2025. Jerry’s early years were spent in Sioux City, where he attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and Bishop Heelan Catholic High School. He was active in scouting, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and contributed his photography skills to the high school yearbook.

Jerry began his college studies at Creighton University before joining the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in England. During his time at Creighton, he met Mary Lou Cuba, who would become his lifelong partner. Their shared adventures included traveling through Europe together.

After completing his military service, Jerry married Mary Lou in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 9, 1965. They settled in Omaha, Nebraska, where Jerry finished his bachelor’s degree at Omaha University while working at Mutual of Omaha. Together, they raised four sons and were active members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and was recognized as a distinguished volunteer with being bestowed with the Silver Beaver award. In 1988, the family moved to San Antonio, Texas, where Jerry began working for USAA and continued his involvement in Scouts and the Knights of Columbus.

Upon retirement, Jerry and Mary Lou moved to Southwest Missouri, building a home on Table Rock Lake near Golden. He enjoyed walking through the wooded property, spending time at the lake, and hosting family and friends in the peaceful rural setting.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou (Cuba) five months prior, parents, Sally (Ramold) and Clarence Olson, and infant sister, Judy. He is survived by his sons: Steven (Angie) of Omaha, NE; Thomas (Charlotte) of Boerne, TX; David (Suzanne) of Conway, AR; and Edward (Sara) of Ozark, MO. He is also survived by siblings, Joan Roche (Richard, dec.) of Butte, MT, and James (Nancy) of Mishawaka, IN; sisters-in-law, Celeste of Chesterfield, MO, Elaine (Chuck) of Marietta, GA, Patrice of Athens, GA, and Julie (Nick) of Humble, TX. Sister-in-law, Janet Brooks and Robert Cuba preceded him in death. Jerry leaves behind 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Arrangements are currently pending. Jerry and Mary Lou will be interred together at Resurrection Cemetery in Omaha.
