Judith Ann “Judi” Mathis, age 85, of Seligman, Missouri.

Judith Ann “Judi” Mathis, age 85, of Seligman, Missouri went to sleep peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

She was born March 31, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Charles and Norma Humes. On April 16, 1961 she was united in marriage to Paul Mathis, who preceded her in death on January 1, 1998. Also preceding her in death were her parents.

Judi was the loving mother of Sue Mathis who cared for her in her final days. Also surviving are her sister, Susan Gail of Harriman, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Linda Chapman-Hovey of Nevada; grandson, Mike Avers of Seligman, Missouri; great grandsons, Eugene Rainer and Otis Rainer both of Seligman, Missouri and great-great-grandson, Conley Rainer.

Judi lived a life dedicated to the service of God and her fellow humans. She was employed as a registered nurse at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas from where she retired in 2007. Prior to and following her retirement Judi worked 20 years as a volunteer librarian at the Bentonville Seventh-day Adventist School where she positively impacted countless children’s lives. Judi was a devoted member of Bentonville Seventh-day Adventist Pathfinders.

John 14: 1–3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am.”

Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
