Kay Thomsen

In Loving Memory of Kay Thomsen...

It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of Kay Thomsen — beloved wife, devoted mother, wonderful grandmother, cherished best friend, and unwavering servant of the Lord and her community. Kay was born in Washta, Iowa to Roger and Kathryn Clark and had five sisters and two brothers. Lowell and Kay meet in 1959 when Lowell was driving through Washta in his 56 Chevy. That was just the beginning of the 63 years they were fortunate to spend together.

Kay’s radiant spirit left a lasting mark on everyone she encountered. She never knew a stranger — only future friends — greeting each person with a warm smile and a twinkle in her eye. Her joy for life, compassionate nature, and tireless generosity touched countless lives across Iowa and Missouri.

Kay found joy in giving back and helping others, including volunteering with the Service League, Meals on Wheels, the Garden Club, Neighbors and Friends, and many others. She was always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, or a homemade treat such as her legendary pecan rolls — a treasured staple of her beloved local church. There, she served in two leadership roles and met friends that were dear to her heart.

A creative and free spirit, Kay shared her talents and laughter freely. Whether it was through a thoughtful craft, an encouraging conversation, or her sharp sense of humor, she lifted those around her with grace and joy.

Kay is survived by her loving husband, Lowell; their daughters Amber (husband Kelly) and Missy (husband Jason); her beloved granddaughter Sydney and grandson Cade; sister Mary and brother Russell; and beloved friends. Each of them carries her love and light in their hearts.

While the world is dimmer without Kay’s presence, her spirit continues to shine in the lives she touched and the memories she gifted us all. Her kindness, creativity, and deep well of love will be forever remembered. We have peace in knowing she is with her Savior.

We ask that you please carry her legacy forward — in service, in laughter, and in love.
