Keith Dale Hankins, age 78, passed away on January 23, 2026.
Keith Dale Hankins, cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Springfield, MO at the age of 78. Services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO with Warriors’ Watch Riders leading the funeral procession, the United States Air Force and BVA 913 performing military honors.
Keith was born on December 27, 1947, in Richland, MO. After graduating from Richland High School, Keith displayed his unwavering patriotism by serving 21 years in the Marines and Air Force, including serving in combat during the Vietnam war. His military career was marked by his commendable dedication, bravery and heroism retiring as a Master Sergeant. Upon retirement, Keith continued his career as a flight instructor with American Airlines, where he served for 25 years. His colleagues at American Airlines respected him for his professionalism, expertise, and the mentorship he provided to many.
Keith's journey through life was shared with his loving wife of 58 years, Linda, whom he married on September 11, 1967, in Beaufort, SC. Their enduring partnership was a testament to the love and enjoyment they shared, and together they raised a family that included three wonderful children: Keith Hankins, Jr. (and his wife Sharon) of Rolla, MO, Cheryl Baker (and her husband Daron) of Irving, TX, and Autumn Valentine (and her husband Bobby) of Justin, TX. The joy of his family expanded with the arrival of five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored and cherished. He will also be missed by his brother, Reavil Hankins, Jr. (and his wife Marla) of Richland, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reavil & Charlotte (Nickolaus) Hankins; his brother, Kenneth Hankins and sisters, Peggy Lambert and Sharon Gundram.
Keith’s love for technology was reflected in his enthusiasm for computers; and he could often be found tinkering on the computer or offering assistance to others. The roar of motorcycle engines and the history and nostalgia of antique cars also captivated Keith. The thrill of the ride and the open road captured his sense of freedom.
His absence will be deeply felt by those who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his memory will be treasured by all who were touched by spirit and generous heart.
In his memory, donations may be made to Warriors’ Watch Riders, 1175 W. Oakville Rd., Springfield, MO 65810.
Arrangements are in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
