Lily Ann Petersen, age 84, of Monett, Missouri passed away Monday December 29, 2025.
She was born March 27, 1941, in Worthington, Missouri, the daughter of Klon Noah and Iris Letha (Hatfield-Tade) Followill, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were six of her seven siblings; her former husband, James Stonehouse and her husband, Harlan Petersen, whom she married on October 28, 1995, in Bella Vista, Arkansas and who preceded her in death on November 5, 2017.
Surviving Lily Ann are her daughters, Kathryn and husband Scott of Illinois, Kristine of Iowa, Karren of Missouri, Kimberly and husband Doug of Iowa; Kelly and husband David of Utah; and son, Kurtis and wife Cindy of Florida; her only surviving sister is Linda and husband Doug; Lily Ann’s legacy also includes eighteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren with one more due to arrive in March 2026.
As a beautiful young girl, Lily Ann moved to Buffalo, Iowa where she attended school and was nominated homecoming queen in high school. Later she developed some of her artistic talents by becoming a hairdresser attending Stewart’s School of Cosmetology in Davenport, Iowa. While she owned and operated her business, Sunnyside Salon in Buffalo, Iowa, she loved to compete in Cosmetology competitions with her daughters and customers acting as models. She retired in 1995 to enjoy married life with her new husband, Harlan. Lily Ann also enjoyed painting, sewing, tending her flowers and landscaping to create beautiful spaces. Lily Ann had lived in Monett since 2005 and attended services at the Body of Christ Ministries. Lily Ann loved the area having had many friends and enjoyed the local activities at the YMCA, water walking, the senior center, the library, as well as local treasure hunting. She was proud of the community and always excited to share with others.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday, January 9, 2026, at Body of Christ Ministries in Wheaton, Missouri. Pastor Gene Robinson will conduct the services. Donations of seeds/bulbs or starter plants will gladly be accepted by the family for a memorial garden in her honor to be established in the Spring. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
