Mai Lo...
Mai Lo was born on January 5, 1963, in Xiengkhouang, Laos, to Mai Thoj and Nia Za Lao.
The third of five siblings, she came of age in a land marked by hardship and tradition. In 1980, with courage and hope, she immigrated to the United States in search of a better life.
Mai married Chong Choa Cha, and together they had six children: Kia, James, Joseph, Sandy, Kathy, and one daughter whose name is not recorded. She was a devoted grandmother to six grandchildren: Anastasia, Melody, Sky, Rose, Rain, and Thomas-each one deeply loved.
In 1988, at just 25, Mai became a single mother. Though she didn't speak English or drive, her determination never wavered. She raised her children with strength, grace, and tireless love. Even in her final days, she continued to give— helping her daughter Kathy pay rent from her hospital bed.
On May 23, 2025, Mai enjoyed a final meal surrounded by family. Four days later, on May 27, she fell into a peaceful sleep and never woke. On June 4, 2025, her family said goodbye as she passed peacefully, surrounded by love.
Mai's life was a story of resilience, sacrifice, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed, always cherished, and forever remembered.
