Robert John Cort, age 82, passed away on December 24, 2025.

Robert John Cort, age 82, of Forsyth, Missouri, passed away on December 24, 2025, after a year long battle with cancer. He entered this life on August 23, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of William and Winona (Jenks) Cort. Robert was joined in marriage on October 27, 1983, to Velva Cornelius.

After being raised in Union City, Michigan, Robert joined the Navy in August of 1960. During his Naval Career, he served aboard numerous commands and earned many honors for his service of 30 years. Robert retired from the Navy in August of 1990; he worked in the Federal Civil Service for 10 years. After retiring for a second time, he got to spend time with his family and Grand Country Wild Bunch friends. They will never forget his smile and the great times spent creating memories. Robert will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Winona Cort; daughter, Donna Bowersox; brother, Bud Cort; and sister, Lois Shirley.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Velva Cort; daughter, Debbie (Jim) Johnson of Jackson, Michigan; daughter, Barbara Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Bonnie Brown of Stanley, North Carolina; son, Bobby (Regina) Cort of Lincolnton, North Carolina; daughter, Carol (Charles) Knudsen of Hollister, Missouri; 29 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
No formal services will be held. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
