Sherman Anderson

Sherman Anderson, 95, of Forsyth.

Sherman Anderson, 95, of Forsyth went on to be with his Lord on June 29, 2025. He was one of eleven children born to Aaron and Polly (Coker) Anderson April 21, 1930, in Protem, Missouri.

He was a retired Teamster and Veteran of the US Army. While stationed at Camp Roberts Sherman married the love of his life Shirley Johnette Engleman in Paso Robles, California June 20, 1953 and during their twenty-seven year marriage they had five children, one girl and four boys.

Sherman enjoyed spending his time gardening and his favorite crops to grow were tomatoes, cucumbers, and watermelon, though he enjoyed little success with the last two. He was often forced to share his cherished tomatoes with a resident groundhog that he eventually came to consider a pet.

As his headstone attests, Sherman was also an avid fisherman. Bass, crappie and trout were his favorite catches. At his passing he had well over a dozen fishing poles and countless reels among his belongings.

When Sherman wasn't gardening or fishing you could often find him at a nearby casino playing either the slots machines or seated at the Black Jack table, which was his favorite game to play. He carried two money clips. One in each of his front pockets. One was for large bills, $50s and $100s and the other for lesser denominations. He also carried a two inch thick wallet and a pocket full of change that caused him to lean slightly to the right.

He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, his ex-wife Shirley Johnette Anderson Fraidenburg, son Jeffrey Aaron Anderson and daughter Emily Jeanne Tarter.

Sherman leaves behind three sons, Reed Anderson of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Bret Anderson of Seattle Washington, Bill Anderson of Forsyth, two brothers Earl Anderson and wife Barb of Powersite, Missouri, William and wife Karen Anderson of Forsyth, one sister Flo Cummings of Walnut Shade, Missouri, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be July 3, 2025, 10 am and the Funeral Service to follow at 11 am at Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, 16560 US-160, Forsyth, Missouri 65653.
