
Shirley Ann Thomsen...
Shirley Ann Thomsen was born on October 17, 1939 in Denver, Arkansas the youngest of two daughters to Roy & Berdance Collins. She attended grade school in a one room school house as the only student in her grade at Flint Hill, and graduated high school in Omaha, AR.
Shirley was baptized as a young girl at Bear Creek Springs beginning a life devoted to serving God. As a talented pianist and in her youth, she joined a group "The Country Cousins" playing at different churches throughout Arkansas and Missouri. Shirley married William Thomsen on November 16, 1968 at the First Presbyterian Church in Branson. After she and Bill were married they attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church where Shirley's musical gifts continued to shine as a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, and pianist, a role she maintained even as the congregation transitioned to Faith Lutheran Church.
Shirley was a meticulous bookkeeper, initially working at a tax office before branching out on her own, helping various Branson Businesses, such as Man's Land and the Shack with bookkeeping and accounting work.
Her interests were rich and varied. She enjoyed the beautiful flower gardens that she and Bill had around their home. She enjoyed going to yard sales and collecting terra cotta vases and other pieces. Her artistic talent was not limited to music; after taking art classes, she created several stunning oil paintings. She was also a fantastic cook and a wonderful friend. She and Bill enjoyed many weekly breakfast dates with their close-knit circle of friends.
Shirley will be remembered for her faith, her talents, her friendship, her devotion to her family and being a great wife and mother. She was patient and had a positive outlook in all circumstances, fully trusting God with her life.
She entered into Heaven on July 10, 2025 at the age of 85.
Her legacy of faith, love, and unwavering optimism will continue to comfort all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her loving husband William R. “Bill” Thomsen of Branson; her daughters, Teresa Gates and Amber Thomsen and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Berdance Collins and her sister, Betty Johnson.
Funeral Services for Shirley will be Friday, July 18, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church, 221 Malone Dr., Branson, MO. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson. Arrangements are in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
