Sue Gloyd Schrimpf, 83, of Jefferson City passed on June 20, 2025, at University Hospital – MU Health Care surrounded by family.
Mrs. Schrimpf was born November 9, 1941, in Branson, MO. Her parents were Everette and Becky (Russell) Gloyd.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband William J. Schrimpf; her parents, Everette and Becky Gloyd of Branson, MO; her stepson, Rick Schrimpf; grandson, Jacob Schrimpf; and numerous Gloyd, Russell, and Schrimpf family members who were dear to her heart.
Mrs. Schrimpf is survived by her children: Ashley Bartlett Weaver (Rich) of Jefferson City, Nathan Bartlett of St. Louis; stepson Mike Schrimpf (Netha) of Hendersonville, TN, stepson David Schrimpf (Janice) of Jefferson City, and stepson Ross Schrimpf (Teri) of Russellville. Her grandchildren include: Ainsley Weaver, Steven Schrimpf (Anna), Jeremy Schrimpf (Sarah), Jordan Larsen, Shawn Sifford (Amanda), Craig Schrimpf, and Michael Schrimpf (Jaicee), along with eight great grandchildren. Sue is also survived by her brothers/sisters-in-law Jerry Schrimpf (Ann), Bennie Schrimpf (Sharon), Judy Wilson, and Tommy Schrimpf (Ginger).
Sue was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. She graduated from Branson High School in 1959. She was an honors student and attended the University of Missouri and George Washington University. When her children were in middle school, she completed her Bachelor of Arts (English) at Lincoln University. After reentering the workforce, most of her career was in the field of social work.
Bill and Sue were married July 2, 1985, and were married nearly thirty years before his passing in 2015. During their marriage, they resided in Rocky Mount, MO at the Lake of the Ozarks. She loved fishing, swimming, and boating. They enjoyed dinners and visits with family and friends at the lake. Their home was filled with fun lake activities and precious memories. Bill and Sue were avid Mizzou fans and attended football games for decades. Sue always encouraged her children to participate in a wide range of activities and stressed the importance of education and simply learning new things. She herself was a life learner and for that, she never aged.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:30 am at Trimble Funeral Homes, 3210 N 10 Mile Drive, Jefferson City, MO. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am with a luncheon immediately following. After the luncheon, the burial will be held at the Columbarium at the historic Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic, 119-120 Hulston Hall, Columbia, MO 65211 in honor of her appreciation for veterans.
