Thelma Ann Loveless, age 84, of Wynne, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
She was born on June 26, 1941, in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of Russell and Violet (Aurand) Markham. She grew up in Elgin and attended South Elgin High School. On June 24, 1967, she married Elbert Loveless, who preceded her in death in 2003. Thelma was a strong, caring woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She raised a big family and worked hard—first at home, then at a clothing factory, and later at Kelley’s Restaurant. After she retired in 2000, she spent her time volunteering at the Hickory Ridge Clothing Closet and Food Pantry. She loved the simple things in life—fishing, going to flea markets and garage sales, working on jigsaw puzzles, and listening to old country music. But what she loved most was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. You could sum her up in three words: caring, outspoken, and feisty. With a big heart and a quick sense of humor, Thelma made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She’ll be remembered for her love, honesty, strength, and the difference she made in people’s lives.
Surviving are her sons, Terry Goldman of Illinois, Jeff March of Columbia, South Carolina, Matthew Loveless (Angela) of Cherry Valley, Arkansas, Justin Loveless (Laurie) of Springfield, Missouri, and Edwin Fuwell (Kellie) of Bloomberg, Missouri, and son-in-law Nick (Jane) Smiley; daughters, Beverly VanDusen of Rockford, Illinois, Pam Gibson (Jeff) of Tennessee, Annette Robertson (Troy) of Lexington, Tennessee, Joann Cox (Frank) of McRae, Arkansas, Diane Baldridge (Mike) of Rosebud, Arkansas, Tammy Loveless of Bernie, Missouri, Jeannette Moss (Mike) of Wynne, Arkansas, Melanie Green (Kenny) of Aurora, Missouri, Amanda Loveless (Kenny) of Cabool, Missouri, and daughters-in-law, Lisa (Joey) Loveless & Rita (Marshall) Loveless; sisters, Yvonne Mainard of Illinois and Sandra Adams of Lake Wappapello, Missouri; 44 grandchildren; 91 great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Loveless; her parents, Russell and Violet Markham; brothers, Alvin, Wesley, Russell, and Leonard; sisters, Marjorie, Marion, Mary, Virginia, and Linda; son, Joseph Loveless; stepson, Marshall Loveless; stepdaughter, Jane Smiley; granddaughter, Amber Smiley and great grandson, Ethan Green. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Ridgeview Baptist Church in Wynne, Arkansas. Pastor Carl Weatherford will lead the service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri. Thelma will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
