Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Wendell Jeter passed away at his home in Forsyth on Sunday morning, February 22, 2026 at the age of 87.

Born Wendell Farrell Jeter on November 14, 1938 in Dill City, Oklahoma, he was the son of Walter Lee Jeter and Gwendlyn Doris (Smith) Jeter.  He was raised on his family’s cotton and cattle farm learning about farming and hard work while also attending school in Dill City.  After graduation, Wendell became a plumber’s apprentice learning the trade and then working as a plumber for Southern Plumbing.

On August 19, 1960, Wendell married his sweetheart, Betty (Williams) and the couple moved to Oklahoma City.  Wendell worked for a time as a police officer before returning to the plumbing industry.  Wendell and Betty lived in New Castle and Okarche, OK raising pigs, cattle, sheep and chickens before taking a change of pace to life and moving to Branson in 1983.  They operated Tacomo Resort for three years in Hollister.  After selling the resort, Wendell returned to his construction roots and became a contractor, building homes for many years.

Wendell was a man of faith and was an integral part of his church family at Riverview Bible Baptist Church.  He was a huge OU Sooner Women’s Softball fan.  He also had a great sense of humor and loved to pick on and play practical jokes on the people he cared most about.

Wendell was an amazing husband to his wife of 65 years, Betty Jeter of Forsyth.  He loved his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be deeply missed by them.  Son, Terry Jeter of Yukon, OK; grandsons, Brandon Jeter (Natanya) and Jerrod Jeter (Shelby); and great-grandchildren, Will, Cole, Oliver and Eli.  He also leaves behind his sister, Nancy Baughman (Jim) of Seminole, OK, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
