Willie Gene Laney, age 53, passed away on October 20, 2025.

Willie Gene Laney, age 53, of Cassville, Missouri passed away Monday, October 20, 2025 at Mercy Hospital Springfield in Springfield, Missouri.

He was born November 12, 1971 in Stella, Missouri to Charles and Dorothy (Vanderpool) Laney, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Everette Vanderpool and Tim Sprinkles.

Surviving are his sister, Charla Murphy of Cassville, Missouri; nephews, Enoch Wilson of Mount Vernon, Missouri, Anthony Julio Daniels of Cassville, Missouri, Keeton Murphy and wife Faith Rice of Springfield, Missouri and Karson Rowland and wife Emma of Springfield, Missouri; nieces, Kalsie Murphy of Cassville, Missouri and Kashawna Laney of Oregon; great nephews, Zayden, Xavior and Oakland and great niece Hope Ann Marie.

Willie was a life-long resident of Cassville and graduated from Cassville High School with the class of 1990. He was self employed for many years with his lawn care business. Willie had a heart for helping people, he would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. His joke telling and sense of humor left a lasting impression, as did the playful teasing of his nieces and nephews, whom he loved. Willie enjoyed going to buffets, the river, fishing, cooking, and going to the library. He loved to go back roading, mushroom hunting, and spending time with friends hanging out at Whitley’s Pharmacy and Walmart. Willie was a member of Community Faith Chapel.

A celebration of life will be held later with dates to be announced. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Willie Laney Memorial Fund at First State Bank of Purdy in Cassville in memory of Willie.
