Around three dozen people have been displaced after a unit in a Branson Apartment Complex catches fire Saturday afternoon.
According to a post from the Branson MO Fire-Rescue Facebook Page, firefighters were dispatched to the 200 Block of Owens Trail around 3:45 pm for a report of a structure fire. Fire was showing from the 12 unit complex with the first arriving firefighters able to locate the unit involved and quickly contained the blaze.
The unit, on the ground floor, received extensive fire damage with the origin of the fire believed to be near the cooking stove in that unit.
Meanwhile, smoke and heat impacted the main floor hallway and both open stairwells. The post goes on to say that the fire did trap one occupant and his pet lizard on the third floor with a ground ladder being deployed to rescue the occupant and his pet. No injuries were reported on the scene of the fire.
The post states that heat damage to the stairwells and the main hallway forced all occupants to be evacuated from the complex while a restoration team was on site to begin repairs and secure the building. The American Red Cross was contacted to help find shelter for the residents in partnership with the apartment management team.
Branson Firefighters where assisted on the scene by the Branson Police Department , Taney County Ambulance District, and the Western Taney County Fire Protection District.
